What started with a passion for Jack Russells grew even further after discovering the incredible intelligence and personality of Australian Cattle Dogs — inspired by the famous “Skidboot” from Animal Planet’s Pet Star competition.
Today, Heart K Kennels continues that tradition by raising both Shorty Jack Russells and Australian Cattle Dogs with the same focus on quality, care, and responsible breeding that families have trusted for decades.

Raising Healthy Puppies the Right Way
At Heart K Kennels, the health and wellbeing of every dog comes first. Our breeding dogs undergo Gensol genetic health testing for common hereditary conditions so we can avoid pairing dogs that carry the same genetic traits. This careful approach helps ensure stronger, healthier bloodlines.
Our females are bred only once per year so they remain healthy and happy. From the very beginning, puppies are raised in a climate-controlled environment and are handled daily to support healthy development and early socialization.
Before going to their new homes, puppies are wormed every two weeks and receive their first puppy vaccination. Tail docking and dew claw removal are performed by our veterinarian within the first few days after birth unless a buyer prefers their puppy to keep a full tail.
We also take extra steps to ensure our dogs remain safe and comfortable during extreme weather, including a Generac home generator to maintain climate control during power outages.
For families traveling from outside the area, we can recommend trusted ground shippers for transportation. Buyers are also welcome to fly into Jackson, Mississippi, where we can meet you at the airport so you can take your new puppy home in person.
